ON SATURDAY JULY 18, REACH GOOD TROUBLE

Hosting Your Own GTLO REACH Event

We’re stronger together. REACH! Events are all about REACHING your community members through meaningful non-partisan voter outreach that connects people with civic education, voting resources, and opportunities to get involved. The antidote to voter suppression is voter registration.

REACH Non-Partisan Voter Registration Drives & Kick-Off Events

If there’s not already a registered Good Trouble Lives On REACH event in your local area, the power is in your hands to host your own. There are several ways you can structure your REACH Good Trouble Lives On event. Below find some options, along with suggested ways to structure your event:

#1 — Hold a Kick-Off Event!

> Make your event short to maximize impact: Have only a couple of inspirational speakers kick off the event, so you can ensure time to train people to take action right then and there, engaging your community.

> Train attendees on how to register voters – you will be sending people out in groups around your town or city to register people to vote.

> Good Trouble Lives On will host trainings leading up to the events to show you how to do this and direct you to resources to enable you to register voters.

> Good Trouble Lives On will also provide specific trainings for states with more restrictive voting laws.

#2 — Make a plan to register voters!

> Work with your planning committee to plan out locations throughout your town, city, or area where you will send attendees.

> Set up stations where groups will be formed and sent out.

> Good Trouble Lives On will provide voter registration resources for you to share with participants to use to register voters.

Here is a guide to get you started:

#1 — Check the event map to see if there is an event yet in your area. If you’re in an area where a GTLO event has already been planned, that’s great! But – if it’s over a 5 or 10 miles away – consider hosting your own event!
#2 — Add your event if there isn’t an event already on the map in your area – submit your own event using this link!
#3 — Review Our Host Guide! Each host will receive a Host Guide upon signing up with tips and resources to support you in organizing an impactful non-partisan event.
#4 — Join Upcoming Trainings. We’re asking event hosts to join us for a series of training calls to ensure you have all the information you need to organize a successful event! Our training schedule will be posted here.
#5 — We’ve got you! The GTLO team is here to support event hosts. We’ll be in contact with more resources and opportunities to help make your event a success. So watch out for emails, calls, and texts from our Host Support team. If you have questions in the meantime, you can email Host@GoodTroubleLivesOn.Org.

A note on creating events in Mobilize: Please note that it may take up to 72 hours for us to approve your event on Mobilize.

Important Note

A core principle behind all Good Trouble Lives On events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events. This action is non-partisan and does not support nor endorse any particular candidate or ballot measure.
